Membership

The Membership and Retention Team is continuing to develop new ideas and programs in an effort to improve membership numbers in the Valley of Springfield. The Team is building a list of potential future candidates and has started dispersing the list to the four Scottish Rite lines to make the initial contacts. We are looking for additional members to assist in our telephone contact campaign to help both our new membership drive and to maintain our present membership by contacting those in arrears.

The new team has already proceeded with one of the new programs. We had our February 6, 2007 Stated Meeting at the Decatur Masonic Center, the results were mixed, but a good effort was put forward in both the 4th and 14th degrees presented that evening. These types of programs will be great opportunities for our members to bring in candidates that can get a feel for what we do and then follow through with the Scottish Rite Reunions. Just as a reminder our next reunion is on March 9 & 10, 2007.

We have added two new members, Steve Haury and Bill Coe, to our team. We are pleased to have these men on our team.

We are looking for members that might be interested in assisting with the new programs, if you are one of those members, please contact Marc Wilson at 217-553-0424, or call the office at 217-793-7728. Continue to watch your newsletter for future updates on the Membership and Retention Team.

Learning Center Open House

The Open House for the Learning Center is scheduled for Sunday May 6, 2007. Additional information will be forthcoming. We would really like to see as many of you as possible at this event to show our support and commitment to this great program.

32° Masonic Learning Center

If you have been to the Masonic Center recently you have undoubtedly noticed increased activity at the Learning Center. Ten new students have begun their tutoring program. Rhiannon and staff are busy four nights a week tutoring our students. This summer five or six new teachers will begin the tutor certification process. This will result in 10 to 12 additional students by the fall of 2007.

Anyone interested in the tutor certification process should contact Rhiannon Robinson, the Center Director, at 217-793-7735. If you know of a child who could possibly benefit from our program, please give them instructions on how to contact Rhiannon.
