    The Degree of the Rose Croix teaches three things , the love and tenderness of a beneficient God, the immortality of the soul, and the extinction of evil, wrong and sorrow. Instead of the old pillars of wisdom, strength and beauty, we now have those of faith, hope, and charity.
Extinguishing and Relighting
the Symbolic Lights
    The Extinguishing and Relighting the Symbolic Lights, ceremonies in connection with the Rose Croix Chapter of Scottish Rite Bodies, are observed by Scottish Rite Masons everywhere, who have attaoned the 18°.
    The extinguishing of the Lights is commemorative of Jesus' Last Supper and occurs on Maundy Thursday evening, the Thursday immediatly preceding Easter Sunday. This ceremony, obligatory to Scottish Rite Masons, is also open to family and friends.
    After the Extiguishing of the Lights, symbolically the Temple remains in darkness until the relighting of the Lights on Easter Day.

    Rose Croix Funeral Service is available for all members in good standing either by request of members in advance or by family through the Cathedral office.
