DDGM MESSAGE
CHARLES A. BROWN, D.D.G.M.
THIRD NORTHERN DISTRICT OF
THE GRAND LODGE OF ILLINOIS A.F.&A.M.

September 27, 2000

It is time to start a new year for the Standard School in the 3rd Northern District.   I am looking forward to each lodge having a very rewarding year.   We welcome all of you to attend these schools.   I will try to communicate to you some of the things that are to happen this year for Masonry in Illinois.

The Deputy Grand Master, James Durbin, upon his elevation to Most Worshipful Grand Master, will require all lodges to open 1-2-3 and close on the 3rd for the visit of the District Deputy Grand Master.   And at that time judges for ritual competition will judge all lodges on their proficiency for Lodge Competition, if the Lodge so desires.

The Grand Master's Excellence Award is attainable for all lodges.   One of the most important items on the list to achieve this award is the attendance of the Worshipful Master, Senior Warden and Junior Warden at Grand Lodge.

We need our lodges to participate more in Community Builders and all the awards that the Grand Lodge has available to Masons and non-Masons.

There is talk of a Past Master's Night to cover the entire area that the Valley of Freeport takes in.   It would be very nice if each community where there is a lodge had a presentation to make and see that they attend at Freeport.
