Masons Enjoy a Curried Chicken Dinner

Prior to the stated communication of Oriental Star Lodge #21 AF & AM the members, visitors and guest speaker Brother Mike Pike, enjoyed a curried chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, green string beans with a dessert of rainbow sherbet. Master Erlon Rose, assisted by our chaplain Lauriston Gile prepared the delicious meal.

Brother Mike Pike, a police officer with the Jay Police Department, gave a very informative talk on Home Land Security. Mike gave a very detailed explanation of the various alerts that are put out by the Federal Home Land Security Department and what they mean to him as a police officer and to us as civilians. He mentioned that there are two potential terrorist targets in Franklin County. Mike said that the State Police were going to be instrumental in providing each police officer in the state with a gas mask and biological suit in the event of a biological attack anywhere in the state. All policemen are to be the first responders to any type of an attack. A question and answer period followed Mike’s talk.

Master Erlon Rose presented a photo of our immediate past master to Lewis Jackson on the occasion of his being honored recently as the outstanding Mason in the 20th Masonic district.

It was voted to raise our dues to $25.00 starting with the dues payable in 2004.

A special communication of our lodge was held on March 6th to pay our respects to and conduct a Masonic funeral for our Brother Donald W. Savage.

It was voted to make a charitable donation to Edith Savage the widow of Brother Donald W. Savage a past master of our lodge.

Steve Santos, a guest from Blazing Star Lodge, spoke about setting up a web site for each lodge in the 20th Masonic District.
